Tine Van Houts

One of The Netherlands’ most well-known journalists, Tine van Houts worked as the London correspondent for NOS Journaal , the main Dutch television news, from 1990-2006. She now works as a free lance media trainer, lecturer and TV commentator, both in the Netherlands and the UK.

Tine originally came to Britain to work as a reporter for the Liverpool Daily Post and the Northern Echo in Newcastle. Moving to London in 1974, she worked on the news desk of Visnews, the international television news agency. From 1979, she was London correspondent for the Amsterdam paper, Het Parool and in 1987 she became the London correspondent for the national newspaper, Algemeen Dagblad, after which she was the London correspondent for the Financieel Dagblad. She is frequently asked to broadcast on British TV and radio and is also a regular speaker for the British Foreign Office’s induction programme for Embassy press officers.

She was awarded the coveted Professor Herman Wekker Prize for Dutch journalism in 1998 and is a former President of the Foreign Press Association in London.
